We want to harness technological innovation to help Israel's most needy – to spur the development of technological solutions that can help vulnerable populations in Israel overcome the challenges they face. These include children and youth at-risk, chronically unemployed and working poor, the elderly and people with disabilities. Technological innovation can also address the needs of Jewish communities around the world where JDC operates.
We're inviting students and professionals from the technological fields that are interested in creating a better society, to participate in the JDC Hackathon.
As part of the global American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, JDC-Israel develops innovative social services for underserved populations in partnership with the Israeli government. Over the years JDC-Israel has innovated and piloted dozens of social services and programs for the most vulnerable Israelis, the best of which have been incorporated into government ministries long-term. These services provide sustainable solutions for hundreds of thousands of people in Israel.
The Hackathon will award the top 3 groups with the following sums: 6,000 NIS (1st Place), 4,000 NIS (2nd Place), and 2,000 NIS (3rd Place). The wining groups will also be given the opportunity to continue the development process via JDC-Israel's new social entrepreneurship HUB.
